National Assembly Ranks Second in Region for Transparency
The National Assembly ranks second in the region for transparency, following the Parliament of Montenegro, by meeting 74 of 123 indicators (60%) according to the research on “Parliamentary openness index in Serbia and the region in 2015”.
“Parliamentary openness means keeping the citizens well informed about the parliament’s work, motivating them to take part in the legislative process and enabling them to influence the work of the parliamentarians who represent their interests and who should be accountable to the citizens”, said Vukosava Crnjanski, Director of the Centre for Research, Transparency and Accountability (CRTA). Parliamentary openness is also reflected in the availability of documents and data concerning the legislative process such as bills, laws, voting results and shorthand notes, which the National Assembly publishes on its webpage.
The Albanian Parliament ranks third by meeting 52 indicators, followed by the Croatian Parliament (50%), Parliamentary Assembly of the federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (45%) and the Macedonian Parliament (40%).
