National Assembly Delegation Takes Part in 8th PAM Plenary Session

The standing delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia took part in the 8th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean in Marseille, France, from 20 to 23 January 2014, at the invitation of the French Parliament.


Besides Serbia, the 8th PAM Plenary Session was also attended by the standing delegations of the parliaments of Algeria, Albania, Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, Croatia, Egypt, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Malta, Mauritania, Monaco, Morocco, Palestine, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Syria and Turkey, as well as numerous observers and guests. The gathering was also attended by the parliament speakers of Albania, Monaco, Morocco, Mauritania and France. The main topics of the 8th Plenary Session dealt with the impact of corruption at the regional level, peace processes in the Middle East, economic crisis and unemployment, integration policy for persons with disabilities and the effect of climate change on the Mediterranean. In the course of the plenary session, the Assembly also deliberated on and adopted the reports and resolutions discussed by the three standing committees, and the 2014 Action Plan.

In the course of the meeting of the Second Standing Committee (dedicated to Economic, Social and Environmental Cooperation), delegation member Nevena Stojanovic, rapporteur of the Steering Committee of the PAM Panel on Trade and Investments in in the Mediterranean, presented a Report on the “Activities of the PAM Panel on Trade and Investments in the Mediterranean”. The Serbian delegation’s report and MP Nevena Stojanovic’s presentation received high marks.

At the closing of the 8th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean in Marseille, delegation member Gorica Mojovic accepted a PAM Award on the behalf of Isidora Zebeljan, composer and youngest academician in Serbia, nominated by the Serbian delegation for the award presented to deserving people working and creating in the Mediterranean region.

The Serbian delegation comprised the following members of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean: Nevena Stojanovic, member of the Steering Committee of the Panel on Trade and Investments in in the Mediterranean, Svetislava Bulajic, Vice-President of the PAM Committee on Economy, Sasa Maksimovic, Gorica Mojovic, and deputy member Aleksandar Senic.
