Israeli Ambassador Expresses Gratitude for Serbia’s Support

The Head and members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Israel met, in the National Assembly House, with Israeli Ambassador to Serbia Yahel Vilan, to discuss the tragic events and suffering of the Israeli people in the terrorist attack by Hamas.

The Head of the PFG with Israel Milovan Drecun expressed his condolences to the families of the victims.

“I deeply sympathize with the victims of the brutal attacks by Hamas and believe that the State of Israel and the Jewish people will have the strength to overcome this terrible tragedy, that peace will be established, suffering of innocent people end and normal and safe life be made possible for Israelis and Palestinians,” Drecun said.

The Ambassador informed the attendees in detail about the events that began with the terrorist attack by Hamas on 7 October and talked about many unresolved situations, which contribute to the understanding of the situation Israel is facing. He drew especial attention to the need to urgently resolving the fate of the 199 hostages kidnapped by Hamas. The Ambassador emphasised that Israel is a democratic country that strives to reduce the number of civilian casualties, however, it will do everything necessary to completely eliminate Hamas both as a political organisation and as a terrorist group. He expressed gratitude for Serbia’s support to Israel at the highest state level.

The members of the PFG with Israel sent condolences and support to the friendly Israeli people, reminding them that Serbia is also facing the activities of terrorist groups in Kosovo-Metohija and the terrible crimes the so-called KLA has committed against Serbs, Roma, Albanians, and that they understand full well the suffering of the victims of criminal terrorist activity.
