Head of the PFG with Palestine Meets with State of Palestine Embassy Charge d’Affaires

The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Palestine Srdjan Simic met with the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Serbia Sami Mhanna.

The diplomatic relations between Serbia and Palestine date back to 1989 and the officials agree that the two countries have a sincere and traditional friendship.

The Head of the PFG with Palestine Srdjan Simic stressed that there is room to improve cooperation across the board and that the main instrument in achieving this goal should be the additional strengthening of interparliamentary cooperation, both through the intensification of meetings between the two parliaments’ friendship groups and through the cooperation of their respective committees and other working bodies.

The Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Serbia Sami Mhanna thanked his host for the welcome and the opportunity to announce the appointment of the new Palestinian Ambassador in Belgrade in person. He also expressed gratitude for the scholarships Serbia has once again secured for 15 Palestinian students this year, through the World in Serbia project.

In the course of the meeting, the officials discussed the political situation in Palestine, with Simic expressing the hope that conditions for a democratic election would soon be created in that country. In light of that, the officials jointly deemed significant the common commitment to the consistent observance of the principles of international law.
