Head of PFG with Jordan Meets with Jordanian Local Government Officials

The Head and members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Jordan met with a number of representatives of the Jordanian local government, at the National Assembly House.

The Head of PFG with Jordan Marko Djurisic said he was most pleased to welcome the representatives of the local government of Jordan and informed them about the Parliamentary Friendship Group’s activities and scope.

He highlighted the importance of the local self-government reform since 2000, centring on financial, legal, institutional and other aspects, which, though still ongoing, has given significant results.

He also said that Serbia’s 2015 IMF arrangement is giving results – the GDP has been growing yearly, as has employment, while the public debt is going down.

The representatives of the Jordanian local government said that they too are happy to be visiting Serbia and to exchange experiences and information relating to local self-government reform, considering that the local self-government in Jordan is similar to the system in Serbia and Jordan is currently going through a process of decentralization.

Finally, PFG Head Marko Djurisic said that today’s meeting is just the beginning of a successful cooperation which he hopes would only improve in the future.

The meeting was also attended by MPs Gordana Comic and Goran Jesic.
