Head of PFG with China and Chinese Ambassador Discuss Continuation of Interparliamentary Cooperation

The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with China Marina Ragus met today with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Serbia H.E. Chen Bo to discuss the continuation of interparliamentary cooperation and upcoming activities of the two parliaments’ friendship groups.

Marina Ragus said that China is a traditional friend to our people and state as evidenced by the two countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership. Ragus went on to say that the 88-member Parliamentary Friendship Group with China is the key bridge of cooperation between the two parliaments.

Ragus thanked China for its uncompromising position on Kosovo-Metohija and support for Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. She stressed that Serbia advocates respect for international law and the principle of territorial integrity and sovereignty of every state, adding that it also supports the One China policy.

Ambassador Chen Bo stressed how much China appreciates the relationship between the National People's Congress and the National Assembly, greatly aided by the regular contacts between the two parliaments’ friendship groups and working bodies.

The Head of the PFG with China and the Chinese Ambassador agreed that economy, tourism, infrastructure, energy, technological innovation, the environment and green development area areas of special interest for cooperation. They opined that the members of the two parliaments could initiate cooperation in these areas at the state level, as well as at the level of the provinces and local self-governments.
