Foreign Affairs Committee Members Talk to Chinese Association for International Understanding

Today in Belgrade, the members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia talked to the members of a delegation of the Chinese Association for International Understanding (CAFIU), headed by Zhizhen Wang, CAFIU Vice President and Vice Chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.



Today in Belgrade, the members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia talked to the members of a delegation of the Chinese Association for International Understanding (CAFIU), headed by Zhizhen Wang, CAFIU Vice President and Vice Chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.

On the behalf of the Committee, the delegation was greeted by its Chairman, Prof. Dr Dragoljub Micunovic, stressing that overall relations between Serbia and the People’s Republic of China are developing very fast which to be expected considering their long friendship and political, economic and cultural cooperation. Currently, Serbia and China are on the same side, urging observance of international law, territorial integrity of countries and unacceptability of secession, which China proved by supporting Serbia’s territorial integrity. Chairman Micunovic stressed that the two countries’ economic relations depend on their size and degree of development of their economies, but can be expressed through Chinese businessmen’s interest to invest in Serbia. He added that Serbia wishes to strengthen its infrastructure and economy on its way to European Union, which can be achieved by cooperating with Chinese economy. In addition to political and economic cooperation, the sphere of cultural exchange hides great potential, Chairman Micunovic pointed out.

Natasa Jovanovic, Foreign Affairs Committee member and National Assembly Deputy Speaker, stressed the importance of China’s role in overall international relations and its observance of international law regarding the preservation of Serbia’s territorial integrity and its southern province of Kosovo-Metohija. She added that the data on China’s economic progress motivate Serbia to overcome the economic crisis.

The Chinese Association for International Understanding is in official visit to the National Assembly at the invitation of the Foreign Affairs Committee. It is an organisation comprised of political parties and social organisations from all the spheres of Chinese life that strives to strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between China and other countries, preserve world peace and improve common development.
