European Integration Committee Meets with Participants of Conference “Europe on a Doorstep”

Deputy Chairperson of the European Integration Committee Elvira Kovacs and Committee member Dragan Sormaz met with the participants of the conference “Europe on a Doorstep” organized by the CET Platform under the auspices of the project financed via the European Commission’s Europe for Citizens Programme.

Elvira Kovacs informed the guests about the National Assembly’s legislative activities and the duties and authority of the European Integration Committee and the National Assembly in terms of Serbia’s European integration process. She also spoke about the important role of parliamentary diplomacy stressing that the Committee has regular meetings with parliamentarians from both EU member states and candidate countries. The members of the European Integration Committee also take active part in the meetings of the chairpersons of the Conference of Parliamentary Committees for Union Affairs of Parliaments of the European Union (COSAC), Kovacs added.

Dragan Sormaz spoke about Serbia’s obligations in the European integration process, stating that besides the reforms and harmonization with the EU acquis, Serbia also has to tackle Chapter 35 - normalization of relations with Pristina.
