Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy Committee Meets with Representatives of Association of Italian Entrepreneurs in Serbia
At the meeting, the participants discussed the potentials and conditions for the further development of cooperation between the Committee on the Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy and the representatives of the Association of Italian Entrepreneurs in the Republic of Serbia “Confindustria Serbia”.
Committee Chairperson Dr Aleksandra Tomic informed the Italian entrepreneurs about the Committee’s scope. She said the privatisation process has still not been completed, but it is not the same as it was 10 years ago and the state is to tackle a difficult and big task. She stressed that the interest of investors to invest into the Serbian market is best illustrated by the fact that the Serbian Government’s public appeal to investors to take part in the privatisation process resulted in 1732 applications.
The representatives of “Confindustria Serbia” thanked the Committee Chairperson and members for the opportunity to meet and discuss how to promote cooperation, stressing that Serbia is an important market for Italian investors.
So as to improve cooperation, the Director of the “Confindustria Serbia” Office Irena Brajovic suggested cooperation with the Committee during the drafting of economic laws in the form of consultations and exchange of opinions. She said that the Italian entrepreneurs doing business in Serbia would continue to promote Serbia as an interesting place for investment.
The Italian entrepreneurs deemed the new economic laws very good, especially the Labour Law which, they said, makes their work easier since it has been adjusted to European laws and standards.
The Chairman of the “Confindustria Serbia” Executive Board Erich Cossutta spoke of the subsidies the Republic of Serbia offers foreign investors, declaring them quite tempting.
“Confindustria Serbia”, comprising 149 thousand companies, has been doing business in Serbia for three years and has 140 members.
