Ambassador Hasanov said how well the relations between Serbia and Azerbaijan developed in 2016, mentioning the completion of works on the Ljig-Preljina section of the highway and continued Azerbaijani investments into Serbia as special points of interest.

The Ambassador endorsed the intensification of cooperation in the spheres of trade and economy which is something the Azerbaijan-Serbia Interparliamentary Cooperation Commission on trade and economy would surely contribute to. Hasanov informed Deputy Speaker Marinkovic that an initiative has been launched to have an Azerbaijan-Serbia Business Forum this year and that Azerbaijani companies are interested in the privatization process in Serbia.

Ambassador Hasanov said that, in the last year, his country has supported Serbia on all issues in international organizations, especially as regards its territorial integrity in Kosovo-Metohija, which it will continue to do.

Azerbaijan will also continue its humanitarian work in Serbia, supporting schools, hospitals and welfare institutions.

Deputy Speaker Marinkovic welcomed Serbia and Azerbaijan’s ongoing cooperation based on the 2013 strategic partnership. He thanked the Ambassador for his country’s stance and support for Serbia’s territorial integrity.

Marinkovic applauded the idea of a Business Forum, offering the parliamentarians’ support through the adjustment of the legislative framework, which will in turn contribute to the intensification of economic cooperation between the two countries. He invited Azerbaijani companies to take part in the completion of the privatization in Serbia, adding that Serbia is a friendly business environment for Azerbaijani investors.
