Committee on Finance, State Budget and Control of Public Spending Visits Republic of Srpska National Assembly Finance and Budget and Audit Committees

In line with the Protocol of Cooperation between the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, the Committee on Finance, State Budget and Control of Public Spending and the finance and budget and audit committees of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska held a joint session in the offices of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska in Banja Luka, on 27 February 2019.

The sitting focused on the relationship between the supreme auditing institutions and the parliaments i.e. the competent committees.

The sitting, chaired by Zeljka Stojicic, Vice President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska and Chairperson of the Finance and Budget Committee, and Dr Aleksandra Tomic Chairperson of the Committee on Finance, State Budget and Control of Public Spending, was attended by representatives of the State Audit Institution of the Republic of Serbia headed by President Dusko Pejovic, Public Sector Audit Service of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska headed by Chief Auditor Jovo Radukic and the Chairman of the Audit Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Tomica Stojanovic.

At attending agreed it would be very beneficial to intensify the cooperation and exchange of information and experience in the work of the competent assembly committees and to launch joint initiatives that would lead to the improvement of the parliamentary control of spending of public funds.

It was emphasized that the cooperation of parliamentary committees and competent auditing services is necessary in order to establish a meaningful, systematic and efficient control of spending of public budget funds.

The President of the State Audit Institution of the Republic of Serbia Dusko Pejovic presented the auditing institution’s operation and organization.

The Chief Auditor of the Republic of Srpska Jovo Radukic presented the organization and work of the Public Sector Audit Service of the Republic of Srpska.
