Atlagic and Obradovic Discuss Education Initiatives

The Chairman of the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society Prof. Dr Marko Atlagic and MP Bosko Obradovic had a meeting where it was concluded that the initiatives submitted for consideration at the sitting of the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society by MP Bosko Obradovic and the initiatives for public hearings concerning education are acceptable and would contribute to the improvement of the state of the national education system.


The officials reached an agreement that Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society would request the relevant Ministry of Education to submit a report on the following issues and problems raised: Report on the implementation of the Bologna system of education; Report on the achievements and problems concerning religious education in schools and the status of teachers of religious education; Report on the accreditation of all universities and faculties in the Republic of Serbia; Report on the number and content of inspections carried out over the work of all faculties in the Republic of Serbia in the last three years and Report on the number and content of inspections carried out for all levels of education under the jurisdiction of the Republic of Serbia in the last three years.

They also agreed that the priority issues that the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society should discuss as soon as possible are the Programme for Suppressing School Violence and its implementation and the way of implementing dual education in the Republic of Serbia.

They also decided to send a request to the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and the relevant ministry to submit reports on the state and work of Serbian schools abroad (number of teachers, amount of state funding and aid, legal status, relations with the Serbian Orthodox Church and other religious communities, number of students per classes and elaboration of key teaching problems). An initiative was launched to hold a public hearing on the topic of the position of libraries in the Republic of Serbia.
