Aleksandra Djurovic Elected Vice-President of Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe
MP Aleksandra Djurovic, Head of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), was elected PACE Vice-President at this morning’s plenary session. She will be holding the post in 2017 and 2018.
The Serbian delegation taking part in the PACE January session also comprises MPs Marija Obradovic, Biljana Pantic Pilja, Prof. Dr Zarko Obradovic, Elvira Kovacs and Jovan Jovanovic. The main topics of the session are migrations, media freedom, situation in Syria and Ukraine, position of Roma and social equality, and the parliamentarians are to be addressed by Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn, President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades, and President of Romania Klaus Werner Iohannis.
The session is also expected to touch on human rights in Kosovo-Metohija at the Political Committee and observance of rights and duties assumed by Serbia by its membership in the Monitoring Committee. Head of the delegation Aleksandra Djurovic is also to have a bilateral meeting with the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Pedro Agramunt to discuss, among other things, the modalities of participation of Kosovo-Metohija representatives in PACE.
