Aleksandar Cotric Condemns Terrorist Attack on Christians in Egypt

Aleksandar Cotric, Head of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (IAO), condemned the terrorist attack on Christians in Egypt.

“I most severely condemn the attack on the Coptic church in the Egyptian city of Tanta which claimed the lives of 21 people and injured more than 50. I would like to extend my condolences to the Pope of the Coptic Church Tawadros on the death of so many innocent victims.

The attack on families praying on Palm Sunday shows all the soullessness and mindlessness of the terrorists who want to eradicate Christians in Egypt.

Escalation of religious hatred in the Middle East, especially against Christians calls for the world leaders, especially the USA, European Union and Russia, to do in their power to protect the lives, human and religious rights of the persecuted in Egypt, Iraq, Syria and elsewhere in the region.

I call the Orthodox believers to solidarity with the endangered Coptic Christians which make up 50% of the population of Egypt and are because of their faith targeted by extremists and terrorists.”
