7th COSAP Held

A delegation of the National Assembly took part in the 7th Conference of the European Integration Parliamentary Committees of States Participating in the Stabilization and Association Process in South-East Europe (COSAP), held on 22 March 2013, in Sarajevo and organised by the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.


The participants of the Conference discussed the strategic interests of European Union enlargement. The participating states stressed the importance of European integration, designating membership in the European Union as their goal. On the occasion, they commended Serbia’s progress in the Euro-integration process.
In the course of the Conference, the participants talked about the IPA II pre-accession funds. They agreed about the need to strengthen the institutional capacities for the use of the pre-accession funds. National Assembly Deputy Speaker Gordana Comic stressed that Serbia’s level of utilization of available funds is very high – about 98%.
Croatian Deputy Prime Minister for Home, Foreign and European Affairs Neven Mimica said he was sure that Croatia’s accession to the European Union would be good news for the rest of the South-East European states, as Croatia would be the loudest supporter of the continued enlargement of the European Union. The participants of the Conference agreed that regional cooperation is important for the Euro-integration process.
In addition to the National Assembly delegation, comprising members of the European Integration Committee - National Assembly Deputy Speaker Gordana Comic, Committee member Ljubisa Stojmirovic and Committee deputy member Jozef Sandor, the Conference was also attended by parliamentarians from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, Croatia, as well as representatives of the European Parliament’s Delegation for relations with Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and Kosovo, representatives of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, European Union Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Regional Cooperation Council, Bosnia and Herzegovina European Integration Directorate and OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Representatives of the Turkish and Kosovo* delegations attended the Conference as guests.
At the end of the Conference, the participants adopted a Joint Statement and agreed to hold the 8th COSAP in Skopje.
