37th Sitting of the Culture and Information Committee

At the 37th sitting, held on 16 December, by majority vote, the members of the Culture and Information Committee accepted the proposal of Dusica Stojkovic to add one more item onto the agenda – postponing the debate on the complaint of the associations dealing with freedom of expression and the protection of children, until the National Assembly has ruled on the authentic interpretation of the provisions of Article 11, paragraphs 4, 5 and 6 of the Law on Electronic Media.


Pursuant to Article 107, paragraph 1 of the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia, Article 40 of the Law on the National Assembly and Article 94 of the National Assembly Rules of Procedure, MPs Dusica Stojkovic and Sanja Nikolic submitted a proposal for the authentic interpretation of Article 11, paragraphs 4, 5 and 6 of the Law on Electronic Media.

The Committee members did not accept the proposal of Committee Chairperson Vesna Marjanovic to include one more item into the agenda – reviewing the complaint of associations dealing with freedom of expression and the protection of children to the decision-making process concerning the candidate list for the election of members of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media and the proposal to hold another sitting and invite representatives of the authorised nominators listed in Article 9, paragraph 1, item 6 of the Law on Electronic Media, to attend.

They also did not accept the proposal of Srdjan Dragojevic to include into the agenda the proposition to annul the current competition and repeat it by issuing another public call for the nomination of candidates for the election of members of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media by the authorised nominator associations dealing with freedom of expression and the protection of children.
Having discussed the proposals to expand the agenda and established the agenda, the Committee members accepted, by majority vote, to postpone the debate on the complaint of the associations dealing with freedom of expression and the protection of children, until the National Assembly has ruled on the authentic interpretation of the provisions of Article 11, paragraphs 4, 5 and 6 of the Law on Electronic Media.

The sitting was attended by Committee members and deputy members Dusica Stojkovic, Milovan Drecun, Aleksandra Jerkov, Nebojsa Tatomir, Mirjana Andric, Srdjan Dragojevic, Sanja Nikolic, Mira Petrovic, Nenad Milosavljevic, Sasa Maksimovic, Jelena Mijatovic, Milorad Cvetanovic and Nenad Nikolic.

The sitting was also attended by MPs Zoran Babic, Natasa Vuckovic, Dragan Sutanovac and Vladimir Orlic, who are not Committee members.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Vesna Marjanovic.
