37th Sitting of the Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Committee

At the sitting held on 6 February, the members of the Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Committee considered the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Activity Information for the fourth quarter of 2018.

Assistant Minister Nenad Katanic presented the Activity Information and speaking of the Ministry’s legislative activity in the fourth quarter of 2018, he said that it had passed the agricultural policy for 2019, prepared four bills concerning food safety and plant health and protection, passed five ordinances the most important of which concerning the allocation of incentives, as well as 11 rulebooks. Katanic took the time to present the incentives per category, stating that the plant production incentives had remained the same – 4,000 RSD per ha, while the incentives for cattle breeding had gone up – 25,000 RSD for cows, 30,000 RSD for heifers, 20,000 RSD for unregistered cows, 7,000 RSD for sheep and goats, 15,000 RSD for sows and beef fattening, whereas the incentives for poultry and fish, as well as the fattening of lambs, veal and pigs remained the same as last year. Incentives for perennial crops had also been increased to 5 million RSD and for organic production by 120% compared to conventional production, said Katanic. The increased allocations were prompted by the signed agreements with Turkey for meat export and Egypt for the export of wheat.

In November the Ministry prepared the national measure rulebooks, and as regards IPARD, this year is supposed to see accreditations for measures 7 (rural tourism) and 9 (employment of experts).
