15th Special Sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, 11th Legislature
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic convened the 15th Special Sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, 11th Legislature, for Monday, 28 May 2018, starting at 10 am.
- Election and oath taking by a member of the Government.
Prime Minister Ana Brnabic submitted a proposal that Sinisa Mali be elected Minister of Finance and elaborated her proposal to the MPs.
For the remainder of the workday the National Assembly conducted a debate on the Government candidate.
On the second day, 29 May, before commencing the proceedings the heads i.e. authorised representatives of the parliamentary groups, MPs Slavisa Ristic, Marko Djurisic, Vladimir Djuric, Miljan Damjanovic, Aleksandra Cabraja, Dr Ana Stevanovic, Marija Janjusevic, MA Aleksandra Jerkov, Marijan Risticevic and Prof. Dr Marko Atlagic requested information and explanations in line with article 287 of the National Assembly Rules of Procedure.
The Chair, National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic greeted, on the behalf of the MPs and herself, the delegation of Guinea-Bissau headed by Parliament Speaker and Chairman of the African Parliamentary Union Executive Committee Cipriano Cassama who followed part of the National Assembly sitting from the gallery of the Grand Hall. National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic took the opportunity to thank Speaker Cipriano Cassama and the delegation members for visiting the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and the clear support of Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The National Assembly continued the debate on the Government candidate and by the end of the day completed the debate on the only item on the agenda of the 15th Special Sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, 11th Legislature.
As the National Assembly had completed the debate on the only item on the agenda, the Chair, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Veroljub Arsic set Tuesday, 29 May, as Voting Day on the proposed Government member and oath-taking, starting at 4 pm.
On Voting Day, 29 May, the MPs voted on the proposed candidate for Government member by roll call. The National Assembly elected Sinisa Mali Minister of Finance by 154 votes in favour.
National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic congratulated Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali and wished him success.
The National Assembly also ruled on the violations of the Rules of Procedure the MPs complained of in the course of the sitting and decided that none of the provisions of the Rules of Procedure had been violated.
Following the vote, the Minister of Finance took the oath of office by reading the text of the oath as stipulated by law and then signed the text of the oath.
The oath-taking was attended by Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Dr Nebojsa Stefanovic, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Branislav Nedimovic, Minister of Mining and Energy Aleksandar Antic, Minister of Justice Nela Kuburovic, Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin, Minister for European Integration Jadranka Joksimovic, Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Zoran Djordjevic, Minister of Youth and Sport Vanja Udovicic, and Minister without portfolio responsible for demography and population policy Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic Dejanovic.
As the National Assembly had completed the debate on the only item on the agenda and ruled on it, National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic concluded the 15th Special Sitting of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, 11th Legislature.
