13th Sitting of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government

At the sitting held on 22 February, the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government reviewed the candidate list for the election of Anti-Corruption Agency Board member submitted by the President of the Republic, proposal of the Supreme Court of Cassation for the election of Anti-Corruption Agency Board member, Proposal of the Decision on the election of Deputy Public Prosecutor submitted by the State Prosecutorial Council, Proposal of the Decision on the termination of office of public prosecutor at the Appellate Public Prosecutor’s Office in Nis and the Proposal of the Decision on the termination of office of public prosecutor at the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Cacak.


On the behalf of the submitters the sitting was attended by Jasmina Mitrovic Maric, advisor to the President of the Republic, Janko Lazarevic, Vice President of the Supreme Court of Cassation, as well as Sandra Kulezic and Stanislav Dukic of the State Prosecutorial Council.

The Committee proceeded to review the President’s proposal that the National Assembly elect, at a plenary session, one of two candidates for Anti-Corruption Agency Board member, Dr Nenad Tesic or Marko Blagojevic. Elaborating on the proposal, Jasmina Mitrovic Maric said that these were two candidates who are both ethically and professionally fit to adequately perform the duty they are nominated for.

The Committee went on to propose that the National Assembly elect Slobodan Gazivoda Anti-Corruption Agency Board member, nominated jointly by the judges of the Supreme Court of Cassation.

The Committee also adopted the candidate list for deputy public prosecutors submitted by the State Prosecutorial Council. Sandra Kulezic said that this was the first competition conducted according to the new Rulebook for the nomination of deputy public prosecutors according to the exam formulated by the State Prosecutorial Council. Out of 133 candidates, Kulezic said, 17 have met the criteria and scored maximum points. She also stressed that candidates with longest terms of service as assistant were given preference, as were those who have successfully completed the Judicial Academy.
The following were nominated: Sasa Minic, Mirjana Stajkovac, Jelena Stevancevic, Aleksandra Vujicic, Miljan Dedic, Marija Stojilkovic, Milan Zivkovic, Dejan Milenkovic, Nikola Vukovic, Stanislava Kolarski, Dragana Mojsin, Boris Majlat, Milan Micic, Ana Marija Vulic, Aleksandar Protic, Snezana Mitic and Sonja Trajkovic.

Finally, the Committee ascertained that the office of Edvard Jerin, Public Prosecutor at the Appellate Public Prosecutor’s Office in Nis, and Danilo Vujucic, the Public Prosecutor at the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Cacak, are terminated as they have reached retirement age.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Petar Petrovic and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Slavisa Bulatovic, Nedjo Jovanovic, Mihajlo Jokic, Djordje Komlenski, Aleksandar Martinovic, Zarko Micin, Nenad Milic, Miletic Mihajlovic, Jovan Palalic, Biljana Pantic Pilja, Balint Pasztor, Sreto Peric and Katarina Rakic, as well as MP Dr Vladimir Orlic.
