13th Sitting of the Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Committee

At the sitting held on 14 July 2021, the Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Committee considered the Bill on the 2023 Agriculture Census, submitted by the Government.


The Bill was presented by State Secretary Jelena Blagojevic, representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management. She said that by conducting the 2012 Agriculture Census, the Republic of Serbia, after more than 50 years, joined the World Programme for the Census of Agriculture implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), which achieved the following goals: obtaining a comprehensive overview of the structural characteristics of national agriculture, development of an internationally comparable database based on key agricultural characteristics, then the formation of a statistical register of agricultural holdings which provides a framework for sample agricultural research and research on the structure of agricultural holdings, as well as providing statistics necessary for sustainable national agrarian development policies and providing data to monitor the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.

The Census will collect the following data regarding agricultural holdings: location of the holding, land fund and categories of agricultural land use, areas under crops, areas of orchards and vineyards, irrigation and use of fertilizers, number of livestock - by species and categories, number of other animals and bee hives, organic agricultural production, agricultural facilities, agricultural machinery and equipment, work force, other farm activities, rural development measures applied and other holding data.

Following a debate, the Committee members proposed that the National Assembly accept the Bill on the 2023 Agriculture Census.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Marijan Risticevic and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Miomir Stojilkovic, Velibor Stanojlovic, Nenad Filipovic, Gojko Palalic, Stanislava Janosevic, Nenad Baros, Veroljub Matic and Haji Milorad Stosic.
