13th Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, 12th Legislature
At the request of the Serbian Government, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic convened the 13th Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, 12th Legislature, for Monday, 13 September 2021, starting at 10 am.
- Bill on the Use of the Serbian Language in Public Life and the Protection and Preservation of the Cyrillic Alphabet.
On behalf of the submitter, the Bill was presented by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture and Information Maja Gojkovic.
The National Assembly then conducted and concluded the debate in principle on the only item agenda.
On the second day of the proceedings, 15 September 2021, before moving onto the agenda National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic congratulated the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag to the MPs and all the citizens.
“As this is a holiday that symbolizes our centuries-long fight for freedom and respect, I would like to remind you that 15 September was chosen for it - the date of the Salonika front breakthrough, when from 15 September to 1 November the Serbian Army walked the path pf freedom from Salonika to Belgrade”, said Speaker Dacic.
The National Assembly went on to commence a debate in detail on the Bill on the Use of the Serbian Language in Public Life and the Protection and Preservation of the Cyrillic Alphabet.
By the end of the workday, the National Assembly concluded the debate in detail on the Bill on the Use of the Serbian Language in Public Life and the Protection and Preservation of the Cyrillic Alphabet.
As the National Assembly had completed the debate on the only item on the agenda, the Chair, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Dr Vladimir Orlic set Wednesday, 15 September 2021, as Voting Day on the item on the agenda of the 13th Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, 12th Legislature, starting at 3 pm.
Voting Day
On Voting Day, 15 September 2021, the National Assembly adopted the Bill on the Use of the Serbian Language in Public Life and the Protection and Preservation of the Cyrillic Alphabet.
As the National Assembly had completed the debate on the only item on the agenda and ruled on it, National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic concluded the 13th Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, 12th Legislature.
