11th Sitting of the Foreign Affairs Committee

At the sitting held on 18 February 2021, the members of the Foreign Affairs Committee considered the Bill on the Confirmation of the Agreement on Educational, Cultural and Sports Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the United States of Mexico.


The Bill was presented by Bojan Cvetkovic, representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who said that the initiative to sign the Agreement was launched by the Mexican side with the wish to fortify and expand the cooperation in said areas.

The Agreement on Educational, Cultural and Sports Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the United States of Mexico will put the Treaty of Cultural Exchange between the Federal People’s Republic of Yugoslavia and the United States of Mexico signed on 26 March 1960 out of force. The Agreement sets up a modern legal framework for a more contemporary realisation of bilateral cooperation, with reciprocal respect interests, real potentials and current tendencies in the fields of education, culture and sport, and enable the further development of overall bilateral relations between the two countries in said fields.

Following the presentation the Committee accepted the Bill.

The attending went on to accept the invitation to the virtual meeting on "Overcoming the data gap on Sustainable Development Goals 16: Tools and Approaches to accelerating data collection and reporting on Sustainable Development Goals 16", to be held on the margins 52nd Session of the UN Statistical Commission, on 18 February 2021, jointly organized by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the UN Development Program (UNDP), which MP Dr Milorad Mijatovic is to participate in.

The Committee also accepted the invitation to visit the Serb community in Croatia living in Glina and the surrounding villages in the period from 20 to 24 February 2021.

The Committee members also noted the regular activities of the National Assembly’s standing delegations and parliamentary and other contacts realised.

The Committee went on to note the changes in the composition of parliamentary friendship groups with Azerbaijan, Albania, Algeria, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the United Kingdom, Indonesia, Canada, Luxembourg, Germany, Norway, Palestine, Portugal, Turkey, the United States, France, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Switzerland and Sweden.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Prof. Dr Zarko Obradovic, and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Ana Karadzic, Stefan Srbljanovic, Ljiljana Malusic, Elvira Kovacs, Dr Milorad Mijatovic, Lav-Grigorije Pajkic, Dubravka Filipovski, Djordje Todorovic, Predrag Rajic, Dragan Sormaz, Vesna Markovic and Dusica Stojkovic.
