Deputy Leila Ruzdic-Trifunovic today, at a working lunch, talked with representatives of political parties and non-governmental organisations from Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, on a visit to our country.

Guests at the lunch were Merita Sejdini, Aleksandra Radeska and Branka Ljubinoska from Macedonia, and Sanja Stanic from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The talks mostly centred on representation and participation of women in the parliament and in other decision-making bodies. Special stress was laid on instruments and mechanisms designed to ensure gender equality, and their establishment and functioning in South-eastern Europe.

Deputy Ruzdic -Trifunovic and her guests concluded that it was necessary for non-governmental organisations to step up the education of women engaged in politics, in order to make them stronger candidates, as well as to support calls for the introduction of gender equality quotas.
