Twentieth Sitting of the Culture and Information Committee
At the sitting held on 10 December, the Culture and Information Committee considered the Republic of Serbia 2010 Budget Bill – Section 25, Ministry of Culture.
At the sitting held on 10 December, the Culture and Information Committee considered the Republic of Serbia 2010 Budget Bill – Section 25, Ministry of Culture. The sitting was chaired by Vesna Marjanovic, Committee Chairperson.
Minister of Culture Nebojsa Bradic talked about the Bill stressing that the economic crisis had had negative consequences on culture even though the competent ministry strove to minimize its impact. Bradic pointed out that the budgetary funds allocated for the Ministry of Culture would foremost be intended for the implementation of the new laws and improvement of the functioning of Serbian cultural institutions.
The Committee members applauded the proposed 15% increase in funds for culture compared to the 2009 budget. They exchanged opinions on the financing of certain institutions in the field.
