The Committee on Health and the Family held its thirty-ninth sitting on 15 December 2010. The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Dr Paja Momcilov, and attended by State Secretary at the Ministry of Health Dr Perisa Simonovic and associates.

The Committee members considered the Bill on Controlled Psychoactive Substances, submitted by the Government of the Republic of Serbia.

State Secretary Dr Perisa Simonovic elaborated the Bill envisaged to regulate the conditions for the production and trade in controlled psychoactive substances, the conditions for the cultivation, processing and trade in plants that controlled psychoactive substances are manufactured from, as well as their use in health care as part of health protection measures.

Following a debate, the Committee members endorsed the Bill, in principle, by a majority of votes.

Committee Deputy Chairman Simo Vukovic was appointed the Committee’s rapporteur to the National Assembly Session.

The Committee members went on to request information from the Ministry of Health representatives on the current situation as relates to the supply of medications and gauze, as well as the epidemiological situation in the country.
