At the thirty-fifth sitting, held on 20 July, the Committee on Transportation and Communications considered, in principle, the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Air Transport, submitted by the Government.
The Bill was presented to the Committee members by Miodrag Miljkovic, State Secretary at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy.
The Ministry representative stated that the 2010 Law on Air Transport needed to be amended and modified for the purpose of harmonisation with European regulations. The amendments refer to the function of main investigator which is supposed to be performed by an independent body, so an Accident and Serious Incident Investigation Centre will be established. The second significant amendment pertains to inspectoral supervision which, according to the Bill, is entrusted to the Civil Aviation Directorate.
Following a short debate, the Committee on Transportation and Communications adopted the Bill in principle.
