Thirty-Eighth Sitting of the Committee on Transportation and Communications

At the sitting held on 7 September, the Committee on Transportation and Communications considered, in principle, the Railway Bill, on the agenda for the Eleventh Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2011.


State Secretary at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy Prof. Dr Slavoljub Vukicevic briefed the Committee members on the innovations contained in the Bill. As the main innovations, Vukicevic listed the improvement of the railway system of the Republic of Serbia, its integration into the transportation service market, as well as the integration of Serbian railways into the European Union railway system. As an extremely important innovation of national interest in the field of rail transport he listed the introduction of a National Railway Infrastructure Programme which is, at the Government’s proposal, adopted by the National Assembly.

Following a debate, the members of the Committee on Transportation and Communications accepted the Railway Bill in principle.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Velimir Ilic.
