The Committee on Health and the Family held its thirty-eighth sitting on 1 December 2010. The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Dr Paja Momcilov, and attended by State Secretary at the Ministry of Health Dr Perisa Simonovic, Assistant Minister of Health Zorica Pavlovic, representatives of the Serbian Medical Chamber, Serbian Pharmaceutical Chamber, Serbian Chamber of Biochemists, Serbian Dentistry Chamber, Association of Private Doctors of Serbia and Club Health.

The Committee members considered the Bill on the Confirmation of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Dignity of the Human Being with regard to the Application of Biology and Medicine: Convention on Human Rights and Biomedicine and the Bill on the Confirmation of the Cooperation Agreement between the Republic of Serbia and the State of Kuwait in the sphere of healthcare, submitted by the Government of the Republic of Serbia.

The Bills were elaborated by the representatives of the Ministry of Health and having completed a debate, the Committee members endorsed the Bills.

The Committee considered the Bill amending and modifying the Health Care Law and the Bill amending and modifying the Law on the Chambers of Health Workers, submitted by the Government of the Republic of Serbia, in principle.

Following a debate, the Committee members endorsed the Bills, in principle, by a majority of votes.

Committee Deputy Chairman Simo Vukovic was appointed the Committee’s rapporteur to the National Assembly Session.
The Committee members went on to elect Dr Dusanka Plecevic the third member of the Committee on Health and the Family Petitions Commission.
