Tenth Sitting of the Education Committee
At the sitting held on 11 February, the Education Committee determined the collective list of nominees for National Education Council members to be submitted to the National Assembly for the purpose of election of Council members.
At the sitting held on 11 February, the Education Committee determined the collective list of nominees for National Education Council members to be submitted to the National Assembly for the purpose of election of Council members. The Committee sitting was chaired by Dr Zoran Sami.
The Committee members continued the discussion on the criteria for the election of new National Education Council members, commenced at the sitting on 2 February. They concluded that nominees who have never before been Council members should be given priority, and that members of ethnic minorities should be elected into the Council. In addition, the Committee proposed that special attention be paid to proportional regional representation, as well as an appropriate representation of women. When choosing nominees from vocational high-school communities, proportional vocational representation should be taken into consideration, and candidates from communities who have not been represented in the Council so far will be given priority.
The Committee also agreed on the principle that employees of the Ministry of Education should not be National Education Council members.
The Committee proposed that the National Assembly vote on each nominee individually.
At the sitting, the Committee determined the Proposal of the Decision on the dismissal of Academician Mihailo Djuric from National Education Council membership, considering that he tendered resignation to said position. The Committee also determined the proposals of the decisions on the dismissal of the erstwhile Council President, Prof. Dr Aleksandar Jovanovic, and Council member Prof. Dr Aleksandar Lipkovski.
