At a sitting held on 13 July, the members of the Committee on Trade and Tourism considered the Bill on Trade in principle, submitted by the Government of the Republic of Serbia. The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Dejan Nikolic and attended by Dr Slobodan Milosavljevic, Minister of Trade and Services, and associates.

Minister Milosavljevic presented the Bill on Trade to the deputies stressing that its main goal is to ensure a stable market in order to enable efficient market economy. In the system of rules regulating the exchange of goods and services, the Law on Trade will have a central place as it regulates the entire exchange (procurement and sale) and conduct of the participants in the exchange i.e. the trade in goods and services. The law introduces a modern nomenclature and classification of the forms and manner of trade, new institutes (trade format, specific market institutions and similar) as well as the legal framework for the improvement of trade, aimed primarily at establishing and maintaining a favourable structure of trade objects and development of trade entrepreneurship, concluded Minister Dr Slobodan Milosavljevic.

The sitting of the Committee on Trade and Tourism was called to a stop as it lacked a quorum.
