Stefanovic and Israeli Ambassador Discuss Current Situation

The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Borko Stefanovic and Israeli Ambassador to Serbia Yahel Vilan discussed the situation in Israel in the aftermath of the Hamas attack on 7 October and all of its consequences.

Stefanovic said that the international community’s focus is now on the difficult situation in Israel and extended condolences for all the victims of the attack, with the hope that the kidnapped would soon be released. He appealed for peace and restraint and for the immediate release of the kidnapped Israelis, stressing that terrorism and barbaric attacks simply cannot be justified. The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee opined that Israel showed restraint and wisdom in this difficult situation.

Ambassador Vilan thanked Serbia for its clear position and condemnation of the Hamas attack on Israel, saying that it is extremely important to call terrorism by its true name and indicating that Europe should have a united voice against radical Islam.

The officials agreed that it would be extremely important for the Parliament to adopt a document that would show Serbia's clear commitment to the matter and the categorisation of Hamas as a terrorist organisation.
