Srdjan Sajn Talks to Representatives of Serbian and Macedonian Academic and Expert Public

Today, at the National Assembly House, MP Srdjan Sajn talked with representatives of the Serbian and Macedonian academic and expert public about the possible amendments to the criminal legislation in Serbia and cooperation at the regional level aimed at improving human and minority rights and speeding up Roma integration.


Sajn informed the guests on the legislative activities undertaken in the previous period as regards Roma integration, as well as the recent establishment of the Interparliamentary Organisation of Roma, comprising MPs from Serbia, Macedonia, Slovakia, Croatia, Hungary and Romania. The organisation, said Sajn, aims to set up a political organisation to establish relevant talks with all international organisations, in line with the MPs democratic capacity.
The President of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Vladimir Kambovski spoke of the basic principles of criminal law in Macedonia, listing possibilities for criminal law reform in Serbia modelled on other European countries.
The officials exchanged opinions on the problems of enforcement of criminal law and the need to reform the judiciary systems, which should include the entire expert public. They also spoke of the need to train criminal law judges in line with the recommendations of the European Court of Human Rights and the important role national and international NGOs play in the fight for human rights.
Srdjan Sajn informed the guests about the initiative to organise meetings at the regional level with representatives of the expert public to discuss possible criminal law solutions aimed at full integration of the Roma.
The meeting was attended by Vladimir Soltanovich Dzhetiyev, Head of the Department of Criminal Law and Proceedings at the Russian State University of Trade and Economics, Head of the International Criminal Law Association Prof. Dr Milenko Kreca, Association Secretary Prof. Dr Sreto Nogo and Nada Nikolova of the Macedonian Ministry of Education.
