The Poverty Reduction Committee held its sixth sitting on 25 February. The sitting was chaired by the Committee Chairman, Bojan Milovanovic. The Committee was attended by the Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, Suzana Djordjevic, member of the Representative Office of the European Rural Development Network, Jela Tvrdonova and representatives of the Team of the Vice-President of the Government of the Republic of Serbia.

At the sitting, the Committee members discussed strategic directions for rural development in Serbia.

At the beginning of the discussion, Assistant Minister Suzana Djordjevic briefed the Committee on the strategic directions and key goals for rural development in 2008.

Afterwards, Jela Tvrdinova informed the Committee members of the experiences of the Republic of Slovakia concerning rural development, pointing out the problems it encountered in the process of rural development.
