Shenzhen City and Region Assembly Delegation Visits National Assembly

National Assembly Deputy Speaker, Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee and Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with China Marina Ragus and the members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group received a delegation of the Assembly of the City and Region of Shenzhen, headed by Tian Fu, Assembly Deputy Speaker. The delegation also included entrepreneurs from the region.

Shenzhen, also known as the China’s Silicon Valley, is, in addition to Shanghai and Beijing, one of the wealthiest cities in China with over 500 billion USD in annual GDP and is the leading city in terms of development of new technologies and innovation. The city is home to the development centres of Huawei, BYD, Mindray, UBTECH and the likes, employing tens of thousands of engineers.

This visit is a significant step forward in the concretisation of the cooperation between the National Assembly and the National People's Congress of China which enjoy the highest level of parliamentary cooperation. The last meeting of the two parliaments’ Cooperation Commission was held in June this year in Beijing when the parliamentary delegation headed by Deputy Speaker Marina Ragus visited Shenzhen. The next meeting of the Cooperation Commission will be held in Belgrade in the first half of next year.
