Seventh Sitting of the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality
At the sitting held on 4 February, the members of the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality discussed the proposal of the Serbian Unity Congress of a project for the prevention of violence against women, titled “My Life in my Hands”.
On the behalf of the Serbian Unity Congress, the project was presented by Jelena Sterdjevic who said that the project gathers successful and educated women who serve as an example for and provide assistance to women who suffer some type of violence, seeking to raise awareness of the problem and recognition of potential violence.
Following the debate, the Committee adopted the Conclusion that the Serbian Unity Congress proposal of the project for the prevention of violence against women “My Life in my Hands”, has been discussed and endorsed.
The Committee members discussed and unanimously adopted the Proposal of the Decision on the Establishment of the Composition of the Commission Monitoring the Execution of the National Action Plan for the Implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 - Women, Peace and Security in the Republic of Serbia (2010-2015).
The Committee Chairman went on to inform the members that the Committee would hold a sitting on 13 February in the form of a roundtable, and on 28 February, at the Ombudsman’s proposal, it would hold a sitting dedicated to the problems faced by persons with mental disabilities
The sitting was chaired by Meho Omerovic, Committee Chairman.
