Seventeenth Sitting of the Foreign Affairs Committee

At the seventeenth sitting, the Foreign Affairs Committee members considered several initiatives for the realisation of foreign delegation visits to the National Assembly and participation of National Assembly delegations in several meetings abroad.



At the seventeenth sitting, the Foreign Affairs Committee members considered several initiatives for the realisation of foreign delegation visits to the National Assembly and participation of National Assembly delegations in several meetings abroad. In addition, the Committee members were briefed on the reports on realised parliamentary visits and notes on realised parliamentary contacts. They also conducted a debate on the composition of several friendship groups and ruled on the election of their presidents, as well as an interview with the newly-appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the State of Kuwait Mihailo Brkic, before his departure for diplomatic duty.

The Committee members consented to: a visit by the Chairman of the Algerian Parliamentary Foreign Policy Committee to Serbia by June this year; the head of the National Assembly’s Standing Delegation to the PACE Prof. Dr Dragoljub Micunovic taking part in the meeting of the PACE Standing Committee in Skoplje on 21 May 2010; the head of the National Assembly’s delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean Maja Lausevic and deputy Jorgovanka Tabakovic taking part in the meeting of the Mediterranean PA Second Standing Committee for Economic, Social and Environmental Cooperation in Lisbon on 27 and 28 May 2010; participation in the Sixth consultative assembly of parliamentarians for the International Court of Justice and rule of law in Kampala on 27 and 28 may 2010; participation in the NATO PA spring session in Riga from 28 May to 1 June 2010; participation in the PACE Political Issues Committee meeting in Paris on 1 June 2010; a delegation of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with France visiting the French Parliament from 1 to 5 June 2010; participation of the National Assembly Speaker, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic, deputies Prof. Dr Dragoljub Micunovic and Nebojsa Randjelovic and National Assembly Secretary Veljko Odalovic in the European Conference of parliament Speakers of CE members states in Limasol from 10 to 12 June 2010; participation in the 74the Rose-Roth seminar of the NATO PA in Helsinki, from 17 to 19 June 2010; participation of the National Assembly’s standing delegation in the PACE June session in Strasbourg from 21 to 25 June 2010; participation in the 17th General Assembly of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy in Yerevan from 28 June to 2 June 2010; participation in the OSCE PA Annual session from 6 to 10 June 2010. The Committee also accepted the Croatian Assembly’s initiative for a visit of the Chairmen of the Croatian Assembly’s Foreign Policy Committee and European Integration Committee to Serbia in June this year.

The Committee members formed and established the composition of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Azerbaijan and elected deputy Vuk Dincic its president. They also determined the composition of parliamentary friendship groups with Syria and Tunisia, and deputy Esad Dzudzevic was elected president of the friendship group with Tunisia. The Committee members also complemented the composition of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Portugal and elected National Assembly Speaker Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic its president. They also complemented the composition of the parliamentary friendship groups with Finland and Italy, agreeing to elect their presidents at one of the upcoming Committee sittings. Deputy Prof. Dr Dragoljub Micunovic was elected president of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with China, deputy Bosko Ristic president of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Germany and deputy Zoran Petrov president of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Bulgaria.

By the end of the sitting, the Committee members had also interviewed the newly-appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the State of Kuwait Mihailo Brkic, before his departure for diplomatic duty, who briefed them on the country’s overall political and economic situation.

The sitting was headed by Prof. Dr Dragoljub Micunovic, Committee Chairman.
