The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Dr Vladimir Orlic and the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Dr Nenad Stevandic met today in Banja Luka and once again confirmed the fraternal relations between Serbia and the Republic of Srpska, as well as the readiness to continue and improve joint work on every level.
In the course of the meeting, speakers Orlic and Stevandic agreed to sign the draft Memorandum on the formation of the Serbia - Republic of Srpska parliamentary forum in September in Belgrade.
They praised the intensive political dialogue between the leadership of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska, the dynamic cooperation between the two assemblies at all levels, as well as the practice of holding joint sessions of the two governments, in accordance with the Agreement on Special Parallel Relations.
In the course of the meeting they confirmed the unanimous positions of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska, as well as mutual, unquestionable support on all the most important issues. Dr Orlic thanked the Republic of Srpska, its people and elected representatives, for supporting the state policy pursued by Serbia under the leadership of the President of the Republic Aleksandar Vucic, which includes the preservation of peace, stability and the continuation of the comprehensive development of our country. "Thank you, Republic of Srpska, for the clearly expressed support for our efforts to protect our vital interests and our people in Kosovo-Metohija," said Dr Orlic.
The officials agreed that close economic cooperation, work on the realisation of all important infrastructure projects, as well as the practice of jointly marking important historical dates for the Serbian people, should be continued.
The Serbian delegation, headed by the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, is in official visit to the Republic of Srpska, during which it is planned to hold a session of the Serbia - Republic of Srpska Cooperation Council, as well as a commemoration of Remembrance Day for all the Serbs who died and were exiled during operation "Storm", to be held in Prijedor.
