Serbia Fully Supports Inclusion and Education of Child Migrants
Dubravka Filipovski, member of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), in the debate on the report on the integration, empowerment and protection of child migrants through compulsory education presented the steps Serbia had undertaken to that end.
Filipovski presented Serbia as a good example where the Assembly had recently passed the Asylum Law and Law on Foreigners which are inclusive and guarantee the child migrants’ right to education. She said that about 700 migrant children had started elementary school in Serbia this school year and 500 teachers were trained to work with them. Filipovski said that Serbia sees migrations as a matter of respecting international norms, solidarity and humanity and repeated that Serbia will fully support a comprehensive and sustainable solution to this global challenge.
