Scientific Gathering on Rudjer Boskovic
To commemorate the 300th anniversary of the birth of Rudjer Boskovic, one of the greatest Serbian and world scientists, the National Assembly hosted a scientific gathering on his work, titled: Rudjer Boskovic – the Forerunner of Modern Science.
The guests and Committee members were greeted by the Chairman of the Committee on Science and Technological Development Srboljub Zivanovic who highlighted the importance of the great scientist’s work.
The scientific gathering aimed to review Rudjer Boskovic's comprehensive scientific opus and point out the trends in modern physics which he might be considered the forerunner of. The gathering comprised a lecture on the life of Rudjer Boskovic, his scientific work, and MP Nikola Zutic spoke about the historic aspects of the scientist’s life and work. Boskovic’s philosophical principles of studying nature received special attention, as did the details of his scientific opus, bibliography and accessibility of his papers at the Digital Library of the Belgrade Faculty of Mathematics.
