SEECP Parliamentary Dimension Working Group Holds Ninth Meeting in Skopje

National Assembly Deputy Speaker Gordana Comic took part in the Ninth Meeting of the Working Group of the Parliamentary Dimension of the South East Europe Cooperation Process (SEECP), held in Skopje, on 15 and 16 April 2013.

At the Ninth Meeting of the SEECP PD Working Group, third in the course of the Macedonian chairmanship, the members of the Working Group, MPs from the regional parliaments and national coordinators worked on collating the documents for the upcoming Conference of SEECP member countries’ parliament speakers, to take place from 26 to 28 May 2013, in Ohrid.
They discussed the amendments submitted to the documents prepared by the Macedonian chairmanship: the Comprehensive report on the possible compromise model for the Parliamentary Assembly’s Secretariat, prepared as a comparative analysis of the Bulgarian and Turkish model, as well as the Proposal of the Rules of Procedure for the future Parliamentary Assembly. They also discussed the Consolidated proposal for the Parliamentary Assembly structure, prepared by the Serbian chairmanship and also accepted by consensus in the course of the Serbian chairmanship (June 2011 – June 2012), so as to include certain amendments in accordance with the agreements reached so far.
The Working Groups members also discussed the Draft Joint Statement, to be adopted in Ohrid by the parliament speakers, on the SEECP PD Working Group’s activities in the course of the Macedonian chairmanship. The National Assembly delegation shared its comments on the document which were accepted by consensus.
At the end of the Ninth Meeting the participants jointly concluded that the consensus reached on the structure of the Parliamentary Assembly still leaves several outstanding issues such as the secretariat headquarters and funding, so the Working Group would need to continue its activity for the duration of the next, Romanian chairmanship of the SEECP.

National Assembly Deputy Speaker Gordana Comic also took part in the International Conference on “European integration through cooperation of the parliaments, civil society and independent regulatory bodies in South-East Europe”, held in Skopje, parallel to the Ninth Meeting of the SEECP PD WG.
