On the behalf of the members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Cyprus, the Cypriot Ambassador was greeted by the Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group Zoran Antic, who declared the Ambassador’s visit very important in view of the fact that Serbia is getting ready to launch membership talks with the European Union.
Cypriot Ambassador Nafsika Krousti thanked the MPs for their interest in becoming members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Cyprus. She informed the members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group about the political and economic situation in Cyprus and the historic facts that influenced the development of Cyprus. Ambassador Krousti reaffirmed her country’s commitment to continue to support Serbia’s progress toward the European Union.
The officials agreed that Serbia and Cyprus share traditionally good relations and very similar historical circumstances. The members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group thanked Ambassador Krousti on Cyprus’ principled support as regards the Kosovo-Metohija issue.
The officials also opined that the cooperation between the two countries should be improved both at the political and economic and cultural level.
In addition to the Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group Zoran Antic, the meeting was attended by Parliamentary Friendship Group members Sanja Jefic Brankovic, Dragan Colic, Nikola Jovanovic, Stefan Zankov, Donka Banovic, Vesna Stepic, Prof. Dr Snezana Bogosavljevic Boskovic, Srdjan Mikovic, Tanja Radovanovic and MP Prof. Dr Vladimir Marinkovic.
