PFG with China Visits Project Hungarian-Serbian Railway: Reconstruction and Modernisation

The members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with China visited Project Hungarian-Serbian Railway: Reconstruction and Modernisation. The delegation travelled from Belgrade to Novi Sad on the high-speed train, moving at a speed of 200kph. General Director of the CRIC Serbia Branch Zhou Xin greeted the delegation, after which they continued the train ride to Sajlovo station and toured the works on the railway, continuing their journey to Rumenka, where they witnessed the installation of tracks and switches.

The Head of the PFG with China Marina Ragus said that Serbia is changing day by day in ways that hardly anyone could have imagined when the President of the Republic, then Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vucic presented the idea of Serbia's development. She pointed out that Aleksandar Vucic inherited Serbia, which was on the verge of bankruptcy, and then Chinese investments helped maintain two cities, Smederevo and Bor, which meant not only their development, but the development of two regions.

"Before 2012, it was impossible to talk about the speed and quality of the railway as we see it today, mainly the existing infrastructure was maintained, and today, with the new railway, you can reach Novi Sad in just 35 minutes," said Ragus.

Representative of the Embassy of the Republic of China Xie Bo said that it is amazing how much the leadership of Serbia cares about the development of their country and how much they respect the cooperation between the two countries.

"Everyone who has been taking part in this project has every reason to be proud of the result and we have every reason to be proud of them. We will always stand by your side as your friends", concluded Xie Bo.
