New Chapter in Relations between Serbia and Albania
National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic, currently in official visit to Albania, met tonight with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Gojkovic and Rama opined that the relations between Serbia and Albania are of vital importance for the overall relations and strengthening of stability in the region.
Gojkovic said that the primary interest of improving relations between the two countries is to secure better life for their citizens, adding that cooperation sends the message to the region and the European Union that Serbia and Albania guarantee the stability of the Western Balkans. Gojkovic stressed that only the integration of the Western Balkans can make the EU truly complete.
Rama said that though Serbia and Albania do not agree on everything, they do have the solid understanding necessary for the progress of both countries and the region. He said that the lesson taught us by history, should be used for the future.
Gojkovic and Rama also spoke about the youth and the realisation of the Memorandum of Understanding to that end, allowing the young people to forge a new relationship.
Gojkovic asked Rama to support the initiative for Albania to take part in the regional youth tourism fair preceding “Exit” festival in Novi Sad, which the Albanian Prime Minister agreed with, stressing the importance of cultural cooperation.
Gojkovic and Rama endorsed the activities of the Serbia-Albania working group on the realisation of infrastructural projects, which will bring the two countries even closer together.
Gojkovic also met with the Mayor of Tirana Lulzim Basha and talked about the new chapter of bilateral relations and improving the position of national minorities.
