National consensus on the European future of Serbia

The European Integrations Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and the European Movement in Serbia are organising a roundtable on “National consensus on the European future of Serbia”.


The European Integrations Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and the European Movement in Serbia are organising a roundtable on “National consensus on the European future of Serbia”.

The roundtable is being organised with the support of the OSCE Mission to Serbia and Montenegro, and under the auspices of the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Predrag Markovic.

Main topics for discussion will be the role of key institutions of the Republic of Serbia, as well as European issues. Speakers are to include Mr Markovic, the head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia and Montenegro, Maurizio Massari, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Miroljub Labus, and the president of the European Movement in Serbia, Zivorad Kovacevic.

In their addresses to roundtable participants, representatives of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the Serbian Orthodox Church, the Standing Conference of Cities and Municipalities, the Nezavisnost trade union association, among others, are to focus on the national strategy of integration into the European Union, as well as the role of segments of society in European integrations.

The roundtable is to be held at the Sava Centre, starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday 15 January 2005.
