National Assembly Speaker at Celebration of Republic of Srpska Day

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Dr Vladimir Orlic addressed the solemn academy celebrating the Day of the Republic of Srpska, which began with a minute of silence for all those who contributed to the creation and freedom of the Republic of Srpska with their sacrifice.

Orlic began his speech by congratulating on his behalf of the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, the state leadership, the citizens of the Republic of Serbia, and on his own behalf, the holiday which, as he said, is deeply embedded in the heart and soul of our people.

He expressed his respect and gratitude to the heroes who, on 9 January 1992, decided to protect the right of the people to preserve peace, freedom, life, the right to preserve their existence and future. That is why, Orlic said, our people know that peace should be preserved as the most precious thing and that it is best kept with the language of cooperation.

Orlic stressed that Serbia had confirmed its determination to preserve and respect unity in the elections held in December in Serbia.

"It is always a convincing victory of the politics led by President Aleksandar Vucic in Serbia, a victory of Serbia's determination to protect our unity and our love, that the people had expressed strongly and convincingly in the elections, so that it may be clear to everyone, that it is one of the strongest elements of politics to take care of the people, wherever they live, and especially to strengthen our ties with the Republic of Srpska," Orlic pointed out.

In his address, Dr Orlic specifically referred to the fact that the Serbian people in Kosovo-Metohija live with daily oppression and under constant injustice, but that despite this they persevere which is why they deserve all respect and admiration, as well as the full support of their country, which they have today like never before.

Today, when Serbia is stronger than it was decades ago, the Republic of Srpska sees and feels that unity, through numerous investments, said Dr Orlic, stressing that our joint infrastructure projects will have a special place in the future, such as roads, airports, hydroelectric plants, which we will achieve thanks to our unity, harmony and willingness to build a good future together.

"In these days, every year we remind each other and together send the message to remind others that there are things that are clear, unambiguous, without dilemma, such as the fact that Serbia will always be with the Republic of Srpska", emphasised the National Assembly Speaker, adding that we have shown that when we are together we can achieve a lot and that we will continue on that path, even more decisively towards a better future.
