National Assembly Speaker Talks to Finnish Parliament Speaker

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic talked to Finnish Parliament Speaker Eero Heinäluoma, heading the Finnish delegation at the summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in Belgrade, commemorating the 50th anniversary of its foundation.


Finnish Parliament Speaker Eero Heinäluoma said that Finland supports Serbia’s road to the EU and expressed his belief that the Finnish Parliament world ratify the SAA with Serbia in September. He emphasised the importance of the UN, and Security Council in particular which is responsible for international peace and security. Heinäluoma stressed that Finland would greatly appreciate Serbia’s support of their candidacy for non-permanent UN Security Council member for 2013-2014.

National Assembly Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic highlighted the importance of the UN, and Security Council in particular. Djukic-Dejanovic stressed that all the decisions of the Security Council are binding, as is Resolution 1244. The Speaker declared it realistic that Finland would be elected non-permanent UNSC member for 2013-2014.

Finnish Parliament Speaker Eero Heinäluoma invited National Assembly Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic to visit Finland which would provide an opportunity to further parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, which the Speaker accepted with pleasure.
