National Assembly Speaker Receives Romanian President

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic, received the President of Romania Traian Basesku.


In a cordial and friendly talk the Romanian President stressed that his country supported Serbia’s road to Euro-integration as well as its territorial integrity and sovereignty. Basesku reminded that the Romanian Parliament’s lower house has already ratified the SAA which is currently also being ratified by the Senate. In addition, the officials discussed the issue of Vlachs living in Timocka Krajina who declare themselves as Romanian.

National Assembly Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic thanked the Romanian people and President on their support of Serbia’s European road emphasising the need to strengthen interparliamentary cooperation and establish better economic relations between the two countries.

Djukic-Dejanovic issued an invitation to the Romanian Parliament Speaker to visit Serbia.
