Reminding National Assembly Speaker Nebojsa Stefanovic of his meeting with Czech Prime Minister Necas during his visit to Serbia earlier this year, Ambassador Hubackova deemed that the time is right to intensify parliamentary cooperation. In the spirit of the conclusions of said meeting, she presented Speaker Stefanovic with an official invitation of the Czech Parliament Speaker Miroslava Nemcova to come visit Prague.
National Assembly Speaker Nebojsa Stefanovic was very pleased to accept the invitation, agreeing that the visit and the efforts invested in a significant expansion of parliamentary cooperation which would accompany the two countries’ excellent relation, should prove helpful. Stefanovic hopes that the on-going talks on improving economic cooperation would be continued in said meeting. The National Assembly Speaker opined that the Czech experience would prove invaluable for the negotiation process with the European Union that Serbia is soon to enter, adding that the Assembly’s Support Service and the MPs could learn a lot from their Czech counterparts’ experience, which would save a considerable amount of time spent on the talks.
The officials agreed that constant contact between parliamentary friendship groups could also significantly contribute to strengthening parliamentary cooperation between Serbia and the Czech Republic and that much of the Czech experience garnered in the talks with the European Union could in this way be communicated to the Serbian MPs.
