National Assembly Speaker Meets with ODIHR Representatives
National Assembly Speaker Ana Brnabic, met with representatives of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) observation mission.
Brnabic informed the ODIHR mission that there was no break in the work with the civil sector, mostly with organisations Crta and Transparency Serbia, on all key recommendations from previous reports. She said they all had a shared goal of speeding up procedures as much as they could and she believed they were practical in their approach. She pointed out that her most sincere ambition is to adopt all the laws and amend the laws and form the planned commissions in the shortest possible time.
Parliament Speaker informed the ODIHR mission that the opposition representatives expressed the desire for the participation of ODIHR representatives in the working group working on the additional improvement of the election conditions, adding that she absolutely agreed with that and pointing out that she had proposed to the opposition to jointly send an invitation letter to ODIHR, signed by the MPs both from the ruling majority and the opposition.
The ODIHR mission emphasised that the support for the work to further improve the electoral conditions in the Republic of Serbia will continue in the future and thanked the Assembly Speaker for the excellent cooperation so far, stressing that she can be credited with many of the initiatives and developments in the dialogue in the parliament. Brnabic also thanked ODIHR, unequivocally stressing that Serbia is fully determined to continue working on the additional improvement of the overall election process in our country.
