National Assembly Speaker Ana Brnabic Meets with German Ambassador

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabic met today with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Anke Konrad.


Ambassador Konrad thanked Speaker Brnabic for the warm welcome, expressing her belief that her engagement in the new post would contribute to the further improvement of bilateral relations between Serbia and Germany.

Speaker Brnabic stressed that the partnership with Germany is extremely important and that Serbia is determined to further improve bilateral cooperation. She said that the parliamentary cooperation between Serbia and Germany is very developed and that its intensification is of particular importance in the process of European integration.

Brnabic expressed her belief that her upcoming visit to Berlin will provide a useful incentive for improving economic cooperation, strengthening parliamentary and political dialogue, and supporting Serbia on its path to European integration.

Ambassador Konrad praised the results achieved in the fields of economy and rule of law, stressing that they are key to progress on the path of European integration. She also praised Serbia's efforts in implementing the ODIHR recommendations, especially emphasising Speaker Brnabic’s personal engagement and the importance of the recommendations’ implementation in the coming period.

The officials also mentioned that Germany is Serbia's largest foreign trade partner, which is very important for the Serbian economy. According to Speaker Brnabic, the relations between Serbia and Germany are very well-developed in the field of economy and there is great potential and room to shape that cooperation, especially in terms of increasing German investments.

The meeting ended with a mutual confirmation of the commitment to strengthen ties and improve cooperation between Serbia and Germany in the coming period.
